PRAY FOR UKRAINE

This is a critical time for the country of Ukraine. With tensions running high amid preparations for war, we implore all Canadians and Americans in our HART Community to join together in prayer for peace and freedom in Ukraine.

HART is committed to promoting peace, and we believe prayer can change the course of history. A war between Russia and Ukraine would have catastrophic consequences for both countries, with the tragic loss of life, mass displacement of civilians, and potential curtailment of religious freedom and human rights.

Here are seven specific prayer points that can help guide our prayers:

One:

Ask to see God's glory amid this great struggle. God often uses dire situations to draw people to himself. Pray that he would be glorified through the people of Ukraine who are following him.

Two:

Pray for God's peace to be a source of strength. Pray for all the Ukrainian Churches and workers to be comforted by God's shalom peace. Pray that they would have opportunities to share with others about God's love.

Three:

Pray for God's protection on all of HART's network of Churches, pastors & ministry leaders throughout Ukraine. Ask God for their physical protection but also their spiritual protection.

Four:

Ask God for comfort. Since the 2014 Russian invasion of southeast Ukraine and Crimea, the thought of more intense war must seem overwhelming to the many families who have already lost fathers, sons, and daughters.

Five:

Ask God to intervene. Pray for wisdom as world leaders negotiate, strategize and speak out. Pray that God would move in their hearts and guide their steps, plans, and words.

Six:

Pray for President (Zelensky) and the other leaders of Ukraine to know God's truth and peace and be transformed by his Holy Spirit, that they would seek to lead their country in the way of peace.

Seven:

Ask that this conflict would open doors of opportunities for the gospel. God has a way of showing up when things are difficult. Pray that he would make his name known across Ukraine and Russia as the result of this conflict.
